Hand work over to the next shift

Write a note that lets another shift finish a specific task.

Separate the completed work from the next action

Give the group, time, measurable result and record location. Then name one outstanding action, its owner and deadline. A note that just says ‘checked’ does not tell the next person what happened.

Try it yourself

Rewrite ‘reception started, finish tonight’. Add the count already recorded, where to check it and who will complete the job.

Worked example

At 15:30, nine of 12 cattle in pen B have been logged. Sheet 4 is beside the scales. The evening shift must check the remaining three tags and enter the result by 17:00.
