Write a short message to the veterinarian

Communicate the location, observations and one open question.

Check your understanding

Use four lines

Start with pen and time. On line two give verified observations and IDs. On line three state how many animals were observed and what remains unknown. Use the fourth line for a question. Record any reply separately with its time.

Try it yourself

Write the four-line message for the example. Do not apply a fraction among observed animals to the whole herd or name a disease from these records.

From the farm

Worked example

There are 24 head in a pen. At 11:00 a worker sees eight. Two of those eight, tags 3 and 7, are standing apart from the group. The other 16 were not observed. One question is: ‘What further information do you need to assess this situation?’
